You can't win for trying
HR Simply-Engineered
Remember when we all used to run around as HR professionals shouting from the top of our lungs how we must strive toward “employer of choice” status. EOC was the HR buzz term for the late 90’s and early 00’s. I grew up in the industry drinking that cool-aid. Don’t get me wrong; it’s a good idea to try and create an environment where your . . .
Think Small
HR Simply-Engineered
What if the next big thing for HR isn’t big at all? What if it’s right in front of our noses? HR is where Smart goes to die
HR Simply-Engineered
I came across a Tweet one day that said “2 years ago I met a HR manager…really smart. After 2 years, smart turned stupid!” Aside from being quite pithy – and I’m a fan of pithy – I started to wonder whether there is something to this notion that being part of an HR department can quite literally suck the smarts out of you. I’m not sure if . . .

Does it matter what they say?
HR Simply-Engineered
This is my very first blog post...ever...
To me HR is all about one thing – optimizing the performance of people in organizations which rely heavily on human capital for their success. All this talk over the years about “getting a seat at the table” becoming a “strategic partner of the business” is great…it’s helped move the needle . . .
